The
Golly Girls are usually dressed in Victorian or Edwardian style
clothes, often vintage baby garments or dolls clothes, possibly altered
to fit. Failing that, they are constructed with vintage material of pure
cotton, wool, silk or lace.
Each Golly Girl stands approximately 21" tall and is free standing with
no need for doll stands. They are jointed in the traditional old
fashioned way with cotterpin joints, just like the bears and are made
from a faux suede effect material.Their heads are made from mohair with
the facial area carefully clipped away to reveal their beautiful Art
Decco /Neauvoux button eyes.Their bodies are filled with polypellets to
give them that scrunchy tactile feel.
The victorian style boots are made from a faux leather or suede
material and are incorporated into the leg pattern so that they can
never be removed or get lost. Then vintage button are added along with
the "Rippingale Gollies for serious collectors" label which is sewn onto
the sole of the boot.
The Golly Girls often come with a "play thing" such as a rag doll, hobby
horse, skipping rope or bear and each Golly is a one of a kind creation,
each piece is entirely different from the next making then unique.
